Trade in your illegal fatbike and get a GUARANTEED €1000 discount!

At KOBRA Bikes , riding fun comes first and we believe in safe & responsible riding. In recent years, the Netherlands has been flooded with illegal fatbikes of low quality, which is not only dangerous for the rider, but has also damaged the Fatbike name. With this trade-in campaign we want to make customers aware of the risks and together contribute to a renewed streetscape, while restoring the Fatbike as a premium vehicle!

This is your chance to hit the road without worry with a legal, high-quality KOBRA V1.2 - and that with €1000 trade-in discount! Make the switch to a safe, legal and quality fatbike: the KOBRA V1.2. Read more about the conditions of this promotion below.

Why is my fatbike illegal?

Many fatbikes in the Netherlands, such as the OUXI V8, do not comply with European and Dutch regulations. This means that one or more of the points below are not in order:

  • Motor power above 250W: Greater motor power is illegal. Often we see that a Fatbike, despite going 25km/h, has too much motor power.
  • Throttle without pedal assistance: This officially makes the fatbike a motor vehicle, for which you need a driver's license and insurance.
  • Speed above 25 km/h electrically assisted: This exceeds the allowed limit for electric bikes, you are uninsured!
  • No EU mark (CE marking): Without this marking, the vehicle does not meet road safety requirements.
  • Illegal imports: no quality control, tax evasion, and often cheap low-quality parts.

What are the risks?

  1. High fines and confiscation: Fines can be as high as €1,385 and the police can confiscate your fatbike .
  2. Uninsured driving: In case of accidents, you cannot fall back on your insurance. This means you have to pay for all damages to yourself, the bike and third parties yourself!
  3. Technically unsafe: Illegal fatbikes are often of low quality, which can cause defects or accidents. There is absolutely no import control due to illegal imports.
  4. Often no guarantee: If something goes wrong, you are often on your own.
